Prevention
It is very important to visit your dentist every six months for a preventive check-up and professional teeth cleaning. This helps maintain oral health, prevent tooth decay and periodontal diseases, and ensures that any potential issues are addressed before they progress.
Carbohydrates are responsible for tooth decay. It is recommended to reduce the consumption of sugary foods and drinks between meals to minimise the risk of cavities.

Discomfort
If you experience discomfort in a tooth or any part of your mouth, visit your dentist as soon as possible. Do not ignore it until the pain worsens or becomes unbearable.
In case of severe pain or swelling, consult your dentist before taking any medication.
If a tooth gets knocked out due to an injury, rinse it gently with saline solution or milk, and keep it stored in saline solution or milk until you seek professional care.

Frequent Brushing
Brushing your teeth should be done 2 to 3 times a day, especially after meals. Use a medium-bristle toothbrush and replace it approximately every three months. All toothpastes contain fluoride, are similar in effectiveness, and you can choose one based on your preference.

The use of antibiotics in dentistry is limited and almost always combined with clinical treatment. Overuse of antibiotics leads to the development of resistant bacteria, resulting in 33,000 deaths per year in Europe. Greece ranks among the countries with the highest rates of unnecessary antibiotic use.
For this reason, always consult your doctor before taking antibiotics for symptoms such as cold, fever, cough, hoarseness, toothache, or swelling.
